I have been wanting to experiment wearing prints on prints but it just isn’t that easy to try to match them so that I don’t end up looking like I am in a costume and all ready to keep the kids entertain in a party.
Guess the easiest way out has just got to be sticking with the safest colors in the wardrobe, BLACK and WHITE.
The first layer is a polka dots tube and a pencil skirt with diagonal stripes texture.
It isn’t very obvious in real life but you can see it quite clearly in the picture above.
And threw on a nautical striped jacket and it doesn’t seem quite that bad after all.
At least I felt I could head to work in these. :-p
My work place is filled with people who are so fun and enthusiastic. 🙂
It was planned that we would go into the office in our outfits of reds and whites and have a team lunch gathering over high raved nyonya food.
The food was delicious! I had to stop myself from taking the third serving!
Singapore has developed and progressed so much in these 47 years and I wish for prosperity and growth for Singapore in many more years to come!
I love Singapore for its stability, security and efficiency. Many a times we take these for granted but will come to better appreciate them when we step out of the country.
Anyway back to my outfit, I wore a crochet sweater over a red dress, which I wore last Christmas. (as below)
And added a red skinny belt to give the top some definition else I would look like an overaged student heading to the library.
Wearing the crochet sweater proved to be quite a challenge ,even when it made of cotton and acrylic blend & sleeves rolled up, in the humidity of Singapore’s summer.
And on National Day itself, I headed to Ikoi for dinner after watching the National Day Parade on tv. I will be posting about the dinner in the next post.
With the ridiculous rumors spreading like wild fire about the demise of Mr Lee KY, although I doubt the creditability of the rumor, it was still certainly a relief to be able to see him attend the National Day Parade.
I was in the mood for another day of red and white!

My nails were not spared too…. 🙂
I promise I will update at shorter intervals between posts!
Hope you’ve had a great National Day holiday! 🙂
I was heading to the Singapore Flyer in the evening and decided to drop by our place first to check out the renovation progress.
Beebops bought along a pack of biscuits which was a very popular snack in the 80’s . In fact this snack brings about fond memories when my granny would bring me out to the playground once a week and on our way back home, we would pass by a small shop, also known locally as a mama shop, at the void deck. And my granny would get this snack for me as she knows that it is my favourite biscuit.
Have you tried this snack before? Was this also one of your favourite childhood snack?
Allow me to introduce you one of my neighbors…
Thanks for dropping by! I would update my visit to the Singapore flyer in a separate post.
And meanwhile I am linking up to
Headed over to Marina Bay Sands (MBS) for buffet lunch at Rise Restaurant.
Located on the first floor in an open space just next to the main lobby of MBS, one should not have much problems trying to locate this restuarant.
The buffet has a good variety of desserts, sashimi, cold cuts, salads, cheese, bread, seafood, smoked meat.
The cooked food section also had a variety of Chinese, Indian, Italian & Western dishes.
The selection is really good in my opinion but the salmon sashimi is not as fresh as I would have expected though the other sashimi were alright.
This is the first buffet that I have been to that has the largest variety of cold cuts and smoked meat. There was Smoked Tuna, salmon and yellowfin & cold cuts like salami, parma ham and some other cuts of duck and beef which I don’t know their names.
Coffee or tea is included in the buffet. They serve TWG tea at the restaurant but they do not have the full range of selections, just the more basic choices like Earl Grey, Chamomile & English Breakfast.
This is one half of the salad station.

Lunch at $48++
It is a little steep but taking into consideration the huge variety and the quality of food, it is worth the visit. I will usually stay clear from the cooked food section as the taste of the food is largely disappointing, however after my brother told me how nice the diced beef was, I decided to give it a try along with the other food in the section. And I kept going back! Surprisingly the food are all cooked with the proper flavours and textures.
However for $68++ for dinner, I wouldn’t be able to comment if it is still worth the visit.
I think most of us would have used the highlighter some point in our schooling life.
And sometimes we have more than a handful in our pencil cases!
When I was planning for my outfit for Neon colours for Everybody, Everywear’s theme, I realised that haven’t been too adventurous in incorporating neon colours into my wardrobe. And after some digging through my wardrobe, I found something that was a highlighter red!
I tried to tone down the brightness with softer pink hues for the rest of my outfit so that it looked more work appropriate and less of a walking neon signboard.
The lace top was a hand me down from my colleague and I loved it despite it being about 2 sizes larger than my usual.
As I have very broad shoulders, it fitted nicely on the shoulders area but there was quite airy in the waist area, so I clinched the top at the waist with a skinny belt.

It’s my outfit post again! And I promise the next post is not going to be my outfit post.
I must admit though that it is so much easier to do an outfit post as opposed to a travel or dining post. :-p
I love polka dots as they make an outfit a little more fun and a little more interesting. What more a dress with haphazard dots in two colours!
Love this dress as it is thick enough to weigh the dress down to give it enough form and it just makes me a happy girl wearing it.
Not forgetting the vintage vibes it gives. 🙂

It was a horribly hot and humid weekend! (>_<“)
Headed to Johor over the weekend as our photos are ready for selection already! Both Beebops and I were a little excited and a little worried about how the pictures might turn out. Thankfully it turned out fine. 🙂
We had our lunch at Old Town White Coffee at City Square first.
The monkey with his funny faces while waiting for the food.
Mine was chicken char siew (roast meat) with dumpling noodles & his was Nasi Lemak.
And a cuppa Old Town White Coffee Gao (Strong) each to prepare us for the use of our concentration and eye power when choosing our pictures!
I enjoyed the photo selection process as we were both quite sure of what we didn’t want in our pictures and we agree on almost all the choices together.
We were given 141 pictures to select from and after close to three hours of choosing we made our choices. *gasp*
I wonder how long it would have taken if we had more differing views.
It was close to dinner time and we headed to a place which was recommended by my colleague.
The skewered BBQ food and Claypot Lou Xu Fun (老鼠粉） are their popular dishes.
So we ordered the recommended dishes and a plate of sweet potato leaves.
We waited quite long to be served our food as the place was rather packed. And we both got a little restless and was kind of spacing out as we were mentally tired from the photo selecting.
I am not too sure if I was due to that that the both of us felt that the food tasted normal and not really worth the wait.
The Claypot Lou Xu Fun had a good serving of minced & sliced meat and nicely braised Chinese mushrooms. The prawns used were not fresh prawns but were those that has been dried and soaked in brine before as it was dry and tasteless. The soup base of this claypot lou xu fun wasn’t as flavorful or tasty as it looks.
The sweet potato leaves was cooked with most of the stems which is usually removed as it is very tough and fibrous.
For the skewered BBQ food, we ordered prawns, chicken wings and abalone mushroom.
The mushroom & chicken wings tasted quite nice but the prawn was dry and not sweet tasting.
If you are in Johor and would like to try the food at the restaurant, below is the address.
It is along the street of The Store at Taman Sentosa, on the left hand side if you turned in from the main road.
