[Oufit] ‘Spotted’ across the Causeway

It was a horribly hot and humid weekend! (>_<“)

Headed to Johor over the weekend as our photos are ready for selection already! Both Beebops and I were a little excited and a little worried about how the pictures might turn out.  Thankfully it turned out fine. 🙂

We had our lunch at Old Town White Coffee at City Square first.

Mine was chicken char siew (roast meat) with dumpling noodles & his was Nasi Lemak.

And a cuppa Old Town White Coffee Gao (Strong) each to prepare us for the use of our concentration and eye power when choosing our pictures!

I enjoyed the photo selection process as we were both quite sure of what we didn’t want in our pictures and we agree on almost all the choices together.

We were given 141 pictures to select from and after close to three hours of choosing we made our choices.  *gasp*

I wonder how long it would have taken if we had more differing views.

It was close to dinner time and we headed to a place which was recommended by my colleague.

The skewered BBQ food and Claypot Lou Xu Fun (老鼠粉) are their popular dishes.

So we ordered the recommended dishes and a plate of sweet potato leaves.

We waited quite long to be served our food as the place was rather packed. And we both got a little restless and was kind of spacing out as we were mentally tired from the photo selecting.

I am not too sure if I was due to that that the both of us felt that the food tasted normal and not really worth the wait.

The Claypot Lou Xu Fun had a good serving of minced & sliced meat and nicely braised Chinese mushrooms. The prawns used were not fresh prawns but were those that has been dried and soaked in brine before as it was dry and tasteless. The soup base of this claypot lou xu fun wasn’t as flavorful or tasty as it looks.

The sweet potato leaves was cooked with most of the stems which is usually removed as it is very tough and fibrous.

For the skewered BBQ food, we ordered prawns, chicken wings and abalone mushroom.

The mushroom & chicken wings tasted quite nice but the prawn was dry and not sweet tasting.

If you are in Johor and would like to try the food at the restaurant, below is the address.

It is along the street of The Store at Taman Sentosa, on the left hand side if you turned in from the main road.

  1. Hello! Lovely to meet you on the Inspiration Monday! What a lovely dress and the combined effect is lovely! Which country are you in, Nasi Lemak sounds like the coconut rice dish I had in Solo, Java and of course Jalan is also an Indonesian word, so I just wondered! Sorry, was just intrigued!
    LOVE the food shots!

    1. Hi Kezzie, I am living in Singapore, which is in South East of Asia. It is the same coconut rice dish which is a dish of malay origins and together with the other words you have mentioned. Thanks so much for dropping by! 🙂

  2. WOO HOO!!! A blogger from a place I used to live in! Singapore and I enjoyed going across to Johor Baharu to do some shopping but in the end, I just went there for the DVDs. Love the food pictures – they make me drool. Your dress is so cool, enjoyed your interpretation of it!
