Lavender Garden is no different.

Tucked away from the city buzz at the base of the Tien Mu Trail, leading to Yang Ming Shan, Lavender Garden is surrounded by lush greenery and tranquility.

Behind this serene garden cafe lies a sorrow story.
After the tragic death of the owner’s son in a plane crash, he became a vegetarian.
Struck by the compassion of people around him in the times of need, he wanted to share these principles with others.

He extends a truly heartfelt welcome and encourages his guests to enjoy not only good vegetarian food, but the garden, the music, and flowing water; providing a holistic experience for patrons to his garden cafe.

The Lavender Garden offers both indoor and outdoor seating. As it was sweltering hot that afternoon, we opted for the cooler indoor option and appreciated the natural settings from behind the glass panel.

The owner was very warm and friendly, taking great efforts to tell us what were the ingredients in the dishes and his recommendation of the more popular dishes.

I ordered french mushroom baked rice.

Actually we did not realise that Lavender Garden was a vegetarian restaurant when we were doing our search and only came to realise after Beebops pointed out that his plate of noodles only had lots of vegetable and a couple of mock shrimps. I was already half way through my food when he mentioned about it. And I must say I am pleasantly surprised that vegetarian food could taste so flavorful and fragrant, not to mention healthy as the rice they used was brown rice.

The monkey in Beebops needed a drink, and it’s Banana Milkshake no less.

Despite Lavender Garden’s natural surroundings, it was not inconvenient to travel there by public transportation.
The nearest Metro Station is Shipai and a short 10mins bus ride would get you to the Tien Mu.

From the bus stop, it’s a short walk uphill to Lavender Garden. The walk uphill would bring you pass a handful of luxurious looking apartments like the ones below.
