From Airport to Airport

We were all psyched up and raring to embark on our JetSaver Light Challenge on Thursday!

Challenge pack and our brand new HTC SmartPhone was handed to us by the JetStar Staff followed by a short briefing. And we are ready to go!

We arrived early and with some time on our hands before our flight time, we grabbed some food at the canteen in Terminal 1.

For hand-carry luggage, there are restrictions on the dimensions.
The dimensions of your hand-carry luggage should have a total dimensions of less than 115cm in total. i.e. Breath + Length + Width = max. 115cm.

A quick way to know if you have passed this requirement is to make use of the metal frame to ensure that it’s within the dimensions.
Let’s see how our luggage measure up against this requirements.

Even for someone like me who does not travel very lightly, I still had some space to go before max-ing out the dimensions. Great!

Traveling on budget airlines means saving on airfare to allow for better use of these savings elsewhere. In no way should it translate to inconveniences nor reduced privileges.

In this aspect, JetStar doesn’t disappoint. The convenience and accessibility of Terminal 1. The range of duty free shops in the boarding area. And most importantly, saving you the hassle of climbing up the rickety metal stairs, under the hot sun with your hand-carry luggage.

On board the plane, my team mate was looking at his printed maps and furiously flipping through the research work that he has printed out.

With my team mate hard at work, I could take my mind off the challenge momentarily and relax with the JetStar inflight magzine.

The flight to Taipei was 4hr 30mins and the bulk of our time was spent rejuvenating our minds and souls, in a procedure commonly known as sleep.

We touched down to wet weather at Tao Yuan Airport, but it certainly did not dampen our mood in anyway. The friendly reception by Hotel 8 Zone’s staff at the airport helped to made us feel so welcomed!

I neither ate or drank on the flight to Taipei and quickly got myself a bottle of Coke to hydrate my throat while waiting for the other teams to gather.

There is no optical illusion on the size of this Coke bottle. It’s bigger than the ones we have in Singapore by 100ml!

On the bus ride to Hotel 8 Zone, we experienced the first signs of hospitality of the hotel when they thoughtfully prepared a box of confectionary for everyone to fill our now rumbling tummies, since there was no inflight food provided.

See the contents of the box below. “Nothing fanatastic,” you might say, but honestly it’s the thought and careful preparation that truly counts. Even comes with a packet drink to go with your bread in case you choke on it due to too dry a throat.

Did I mentioned we received a HTC SmartPhone that looks good to the eye and feel good to the touch due to the matt finish backing.

This game of reflex kept us busy on our journey around Taipei.

Our Takeaway:
Unless smuggling gold bars to Taiwan, it’s almost impossible to reach the 10kg limit.
Say Yes to hand carry luggage, say YEAH to Jetsaver Light!
